“As a mentor, I see my role as holding space for artists to grow. I’m trying my best to incorporate both the expressive and historical aspects of Waacking/Punking into my work, along with my experience assisting artists in regaining their self-confidence. I lead my sessions where the students are focused on developing both their technique and their personal narratives, which helps them feel more resilient both as a group and as individuals. For me, it’s about integrating mentorship, movement, and mindset in a way that benefits artists/creatives over the long run.”
Esther, also known as Myss Tru, is a movement artist, mentor, and self-development coach originally from the Canary Islands, Spain. Dancing since the age of three, she trained in Hip Hop, Contemporary, and other styles before finding her true artistic home in Waacking in 2017 in London. Since then, Waacking has become the core of her artistic expression and research.
Through movement, Myss Tru explores dance as a vehicle for self-expression, confidence-building, and community connection. A passionate advocate for social inclusion, she has co-founded projects such as Disconnection Jam (since 2018), a London-based platform dedicated to uniting Waackers across cultures and generations, building visibility for the style, and nurturing new dancers.
She is also completing a Dance BA at Roehampton University, with a dissertation exploring Waacking through the lens of dance psychology, identity, and empowerment.
As both a performer and educator, Myss has shared her artistry on international stages, including Red Bull Dance Your Style, World of Dance (USA), National Theatre, All Europe Waacking Festival (France), Eleganza (Italy), Waack Down (Netherlands), Move It (UK), and more.
Myss Tru's mission is to create spaces where movement becomes more than steps, a practice of mindfulness, confidence, and self-discovery, while continuing to build community platforms that connect and inspire future generations of Waackers.
